Seung Gwon, M.D., President

Dr. Gwon graduated from The Chicago Medical School and completed her surgical training at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA in 2005. She is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gwon participated in her first medical mission in 2016 when she joined Dr. Imler's medical mission team to Guatemala. In 2017, she co-coordinated our medical mission to Guatemala.


Shannon Gwon, Vice President

Shannon Gwon is currently the Business Manager for the Vein Clinic, Inc. Previously, she has served as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Cash, Currency, and Fixed Income Division of the Bank of New York Mellon Asset Management. Prior to that, she was the Senior Vice President of Information Technology for Pareto Partners, a currency management specialist firm. Shannon has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Applied Sciences from the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. In 2017. she attended her first medical mission to Guatemala.


Janet Werner, Secretary and Treasurer

Janet Werner graduated from Sonoma State University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at the University of California, San Diego in the Trauma/Surgical ICU until retirement in 2008. Janet participated in 5 medical missions through Helps International and 2 medical missions with Dr. Imler. Janet has also participated in 6 stove trips to Guatemala helping to build over 200 stoves. In 2017, she co- coordinated the medical mission to Guatemala.


Amity Arora, Board Member at Large

Amity is a Registered Nurse with a background in Health Information Management. She earned her BSN from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Maryland. Amity’s clinical expertise is in Perioperative Care. She has over 25 years experience in Health Information Systems. She has been with FWP since 2018. Amity has also worked for the American Red Cross and the Burma Humanitarian Mission.
